True Ghost Stories: Real Haunted Ouija Boards

True Ghost Stories: Real Haunted Ouija Boards

By Zachery Knowles

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

This is very different from the other books in this series. There are not separate chapters exploring different locations or individuals. This is more of an overall discussion of Ouija’s. So in light of this I will be treating my entry as I would a fictional story. Making comments about the overall book…possibly having angry rants here and there. So back to normal. Wink

Knowles has this set up very interestingly. Each chapter, such as the first about those that are skeptics, has stories that are related to the chapter title. So there are three stories in the first chapter where the account was given by someone who was skeptical of the whole thing. It’s a sturdy way of structuring a book where your information is pretty much all from third party accounts. Not to say that it’s not possible that Knowles actually interviewed some of these folks but it’s still a subject that people struggle to wrap their heads around.

The stories are short and sweet but it’s interesting to hear about what others have experienced. Don’t forget every ones experience is a personal interpretation. Everyone in the room could have had a different experience to the same event or in some cases the exact same experience (which is creepy). I think really the lesson to learn is to proceed with caution, always close your session and should you find yourself up against something unpleasant just remember…it’s just a game little Ghoulies.

Closing thoughts:

Honestly I don’t know if utilizing these boards can help us communicate with the world we go to after we pass. I can say that I don’t think the Parker Bros version that is advertised as a game is the best line of communication (in fact, it almost seems disrespectful). This said I have actually made my own board and this, in my opinion, is the best way to make that connection. It’s more personal, potentially heartfelt, and overall more respectful. Yes I used it alone, no I did not have adverse effects, yes, I feel that I connected with someone. For me it was not a frightening experience but a peaceful one. I think that if the “game”, mass produced version of these boards do work you are more likely to contact something undesirable with them. I mean let’s face it if you are buying it from Walmart or Amazon for $14.99 the most respectable and helpful spirits are probably not going to communicate with you since you probably are doing it for a laugh. One of the most important aspects of exploring the unknown world of the paranormal is to keep an open mind and always be respectful. Disrespect can get you followed home.

A quick read that’s entertaining and informative.

Happy Devouring!
